Newsletters
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a simple, friendly way to touch base with all the fine people that you’ve done business with over the years? Just a little reminder of the good experience they had working with you... often a little reminder is all the prompting your clients need to pick up the phone and place a new order.
Well, that’s what newsletters do for you; they’re a splendid way to reach out to all the nice people you’ve already helped.
What Goes in a Newsletter?
If your business has added new services, or remodeled, or expanded... if you’ve hired new personnel, bought a new machine, or satisfied a new client... if recent industry news affects potential customers... it you’d like to give readers your spin on national or local news... put simply, if there’s anything interesting that you’d like to get out to prospects, newsletters are the way to do it.
Newsletters are a good way to keep prospects informed, and to remind them once a quarter, or so, how pleasant it was (or will be) to do business with you. Newsletters aren’t junk mail - your readers will be genuinely grateful for the update.
How Does it Work?
You don’t have to do any writing; all you have to do is gather relevant clippings, jot down a few notes, and keep them in a file. Then I’ll give you a call and interview you. The clippings, notes, and my interview notes are usually enough for me to put together a decent first draft for you to review. I’ll then revise as directed - no newsletter goes out without your review and approval!
Of course, if you do want to write, I’ll happily proof and typeset your articles.
Will My Newsletter Be Unique?
Absolutely. I will work with you to incorporate your existing design elements into a personalized look that suits your business perfectly. If you don’t have much in the way of an existing identity, no problem - I would be happy to work with you to create one. The resulting newsletter will be one that you can be proud of, one that you’ll be happy to send out.
Successful Business Owners are always on the lookout for New Customers:
But don’t overlook your most likely source of new customers - old customers! A newsletter packs a lot of useful information into a small format that’s cheap and easy to mail. It’s a great way to make use of the mailing lists you’ve been developing.
Done right, newsletters are not perceived as junk mail - they are seen as a source of useful information and are kept as a reference. Your contact information will be around for a long time, always handy for a referral or a new booking. If you’ve included a calendar of upcoming events your newsletter may even be filed for long term reference... does marketing get any better?

Newsletter section, annexation mailing: Strictly speaking, this wasn’t a newsletter, because it only went out one time. But the newsletter format was a great way to the message across, and it was part of a successful campaign - the annexation passed by a landslide!

Newsletter section, bed & breakfast: This pieces discusses some of the specific ways newsletters work in the guest industry, specifically bed & breakfast inns. |

|
Newsletter section, Dylan Lario: Dylan’s very first newsletter netted him three accounts, more than paying for his efforts. And since newsletters are cumulative in effect, his results are getting better each time. |
 |
Newsletter section, Market Report: The Lario team had been putting out a newsletter for many years before I started working with them. They got good results, but found it difficult to be consistent - mainly because they were so busy! In this case, the Larios do much of the writing, and I work with them to set charts and tables, edit as needed, and typeset. If you have an existing newsletter that needs a new look or a fresh voice, I’d be happy to help out.
